I am currently a history major, but I am not sure if I'm on the right path. (I'm at the end of my freshman year, so I'm not entirely too far along to switch majors if I have to.) It's my dream to become an expert of fashion history, hopefully designing costumes for movies, TV and theatre.

Generally if a costume is needed for a specific time period or event in history, the producers with opt for somebody with a major in that particular branch of history. For example: If a costume is needed for a film based in England during the Victorian Era, the producer will use somebody with a major in English history to give an idea to the costume designers. You could always get a major in costume design for musical theater though, if you're looking for a history-design type job.
